As therapists, we have learned that often counseling gets the cart before the horse! It can feel almost impossible to change behavior and learn new skills when we are in our conflict cycle of fight, flight, freeze or fawn. The first thing we need to do is to get out of survival mode so we can pursue thriving. Each one of us brings our history and coping mechanisms into every relationship we have, and it's just a matter of time before we hit a bump that sends us into reactions that we formed long ago that aren't really helping us today.

Our journey began as marriage mentors who quickly saw that trauma and anxiety were making work for couples incredibly difficult. We realized that our own healing and marriage success depended upon our individual journey of healing with God, fellow believers, and professional guidance. So, we both headed back to school to gain professional tools through the lens of God's Word. Today, we always start with individual healing and have seen incredible results in whole families.
